Interior Art From The Heart Part 1: Your Baby’s Very Own Toy Story
There are few items that children, both girls and boys, treasure more than their childhood toys. That’s why Toy Story 3 was such a success, with the entire animated feature film built around 17-year-old Andy leaving for college and placing all his toys in a bag to be stored in the attic. The fact that the toys accidentally end up in the garbage pile is harrowing for viewers of all ages!
Unfortunately my parents accidentally left many of my toys in the attic of a house we moved out from when I was about 19 – and discovered that a little too late. In fact, they waited about 15 years to tell me this piece of bad news. That’s an indication of how much value kids place on their childhood toys – and parents know it.
I have a (very grown up) friend who still has the teddy bear he had when he was a baby. He’s shown me a photo of Blue Bear, a blue bear (of course!), lying by his side in his cot when he was a baby. At the time, the bear was bigger than he was. Today, Blue Bear sits pride of place in his bedroom ‘still watching over him’ as he describes it.
‘He’s been watching over me since I was a baby.’
None of this sentimentality need wait until your baby is all grown up and about to move away. When designing your baby’s bedroom, there is plenty you can achieve using the magic of your own baby’s toys.
Your baby will receive gifts galore, some more adorable than others. When their toys are brand new, perhaps while you’re checking in on your beautiful new baby, take some time out to photograph the toys in the nursery.
Capture each toy one by one, a portrait of each individual toy. These photos will form the images behind a custom canvas print, either one big print of your favourite toy photo, a wall series of multiple images, or a collage of multiple images.
This interior design idea will tug at the heartstrings and, using custom canvas printing, it’s so simple to achieve.
Another twist on this idea is to take a photo of your baby holding their teddy bear or lying with their teddy bear. You can then use this photo as part of your own family portrait wall series or collage canvas.
Remember it doesn’t have to be teddy bears. It could be anything: a rattle, baby lego, wooden blocks, a train, a musical instrument etc etc.
This interior design idea gives your baby a sense of individuality from word go and what better way to honor your little one’s personality than to display his or her favorite toys in their bedroom in a tasteful way.
There’s no need to spend a fortune on buying pre-made prints when you can enjoy your own custom canvas prints.
Start capturing those lifelong memories on camera then jump online to create your baby’s first home décor personality piece. Your children will remember this thoughtful gesture forever.
