Improve Your Vacation Photos for Canvas Printing
We all know how it goes: Your vacation is supposed to be fun and relaxing but often becomes stressful and crazed as you try to master a billion details from your travel accommodations to your hotel, currency, and activity details. Especially when vacationing with your family, the trip sometimes leaves you feeling like you need a holiday from your holiday. It’s no wonder we often return home from a holiday, review our photos, and find few if any that inspire us to turn them into canvas prints to serve as wall art.
But making art from our holiday photos is still the goal. Here’s a quick guide to improving your vacation photos so that you wind up with better candidates for wall art in your home.
Tip #1: Plan Ahead
The first trick isn’t a trick at all: Plan your photography ahead of time. Very often people go on holiday and they plan every aspect of the trip, from the plane ride to the hotels to where they’re having dinner every night, with military precision – but when it comes to taking photos, their planning boils down to tossing a camera into the bag – or perhaps even just bringing along the smartphone.
Think about your photography goals. Whether it’s capturing the local sights or getting shots of your family having fun, know what you want to photograph ahead of time, and think about any equipment you want to bring to help you – if any. If you decide that all you need is your smartphone that’s fine, as long as it’s a decision and not a default.
Tip #2: Be Prepared
You know you’re going to want to take a lot of pictures while on holiday, so be ready to do so:
1) Clear the memory on your phone or pack extra memory cards
2) Set up a cloud drive to upload your photos nightly for safe keeping and backup
3) Figure out the best way you can have your camera with you at all times no matter what you’re doing – hand strap, fanny pack, etc.
The key idea is to be ready to take as many photos as you like, and to ensure those photos survive until you get home.
Tip #3: Take Lots of ‛Em
When on your trip, keep your photo goals in mind at all times, and don’t be shy about taking photos. Take photos all the time! Take a variety of shots, too: The standard poses by the monuments, interesting landscapes, and action shots of your family having a good time.
Be creative, too – don’t just take the ‘usual’ types of photos, and take as many as you can that are unusual and interesting. Try to sneak up on your family and get candids, and don’t over-worry about tourists. If you take a lot of photos you’ll have more options for selecting photos as well as editing them later – including removing tourists.
And when you get back with the best holiday photos of your life, send them to us so we can get cracking on the photo printing end of things!
