Fireworks Photos for Amazing Canvas Prints with Your Smartphone
For centuries now, fireworks have not only been one of the most popular and exciting ways to celebrate holidays and special occasions, but also one of the most popular subjects of photographs and, most recently, stunning canvas prints for our walls. While the ability to print photos online has gotten much easier in the modern day, the actual photography of fireworks hasn’t. As anyone who has attempted to take photos of fireworks with their smartphone can attest, fireworks may be some of the most difficult subjects for wall prints ever.
What’s usually missing, however, isn’t technological in nature, but rather simply knowledge. By following a few simple tips, you can take breathtaking fireworks photos that are ideal for affordable art prints that will make your rooms into dramatic and powerful set-pieces in your home’s interior design.
Fireworks Photography Tip 1: Get Close
It might seem like it doesn’t matter since fireworks are far up in the sky and easily seen from great distances, but the closer you can get to the action, the better your photos will be. While getting up high might also give you a great unobstructed view of the fireworks, if you have a choice between being closer or being higher, always choose closer. It seems obvious – and it is – but many people hang back and then wonder why the fireworks look like tiny streaks of distant light on their phones.
Fireworks Photography Tip 2: Use an App
Did you know that Apps exist specifically for taking photos of fireworks? There are plenty of them, and not using an App for this purpose is just leaving technology on the table. Apps can set your camera’s setting automatically to the ideal combination for fireworks, and apply all sorts of automatic filters to make them more vivid and clear. Review your choices in your phone’s App Store and choose the best one in your budget. Even if your budget is “free” using an App will instantly improve your chances of getting a fireworks photo that you’ll want to send to print photos online.
Fireworks Photography Tip 3: No Flash or Zoom
While the no flash rule should be obvious, for some reason at every fireworks show there’s always that one person snapping away with a flash. Most likely people simply forget the flash is on – so always double-check before wasting your time.
The No Zoom rule is less obvious, but that’s because mentally we all think of zooming on an old analogue camera, where the lens actually moves to focus the incoming light. Digital zoom on a smartphone is just an act of software: You still have the same amount of light information, it’s just been made grainy and blurry.
Photos of fireworks are a lot of fun, and a great way to add some drama and colour to your walls in the form of canvas prints. When you’ve perfected your technique and have some great ones ready to be made into prints, click here and we’ll make sure they come back to you as stunning pieces of art.
