Five Of The Best ‘Adults Only’ Craft Ideas
Eager to spice up your relationship? Move over Victoria’s Secret, there’s a time for sexy lingerie and there’s a time for craft. And the time for craft is always now!
But since when did craft become the sole domain of children? A quick scan of the interwebs brings up millions of articles focusing on an abundance of different types of easy, creative craft ideas for kids whereas – as adults – we’re relegated to focusing on things that require oodles of time or actual skill like crocheting, sewing, scrapbooking, painting etc (not that there’s anything wrong with that!).
It’s time for adults – both men and woman – to DIY their way to a spiced up relationship. These offerings are a little bit naughty, a little bit intimate and will result in a whole lot of laughter. And they’re super easy to execute.
“You don’t stop laughing when you grow old, you grow old when you stop laughing.” – George Bernard Shaw
And who, I ask you, wants to grow old? Who, I ask you, wants to stop laughing?
These craft ideas are strictly for adults only – the likes of you, me, your neighbours (will they please just keep it down?) and possibly a few horny teenagers.
1. Naughty Coupon Book
Create a booklet of 10 different free coupons and gift it to your partner. The gifts might include something as romantic as ‘One candle-lit dinner at a restaurant of your choice’ or ‘A 5 minute shoulder massage every day for a week’ or ‘We have sex and I do all the work’.
If you need some inspiration for what on earth to write in these coupons, here’s a video that may assist:
Oh I joke (kind of?). I’m sure you can think of something sexier and more risqué than all that!
Once you’ve come up with 10 different ideas, you can pull together the craft side of this fairly easily. You can either do this on the computer using Word or even just cut out some paper, handwrite the coupons and staple them together. Either way, put in some effort. Use lots of colour and romance. Make it look as thoughtful and touching as you can.
2. Foot Scrub
What you need:
- 2 cups of Epsom salts
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- Zest of one lime
- 3-4 drops of lime essential oil
- 3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil
- Bowl
- Water
- Rose petals
- Pumice stone or loofer
- Hand towel or face flannel
Put the Epsom salts, baking soda, lime zest and essential oils into a bowl and mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon. Pour it into a jar then place it in the fridge. Use it within two weeks.
How you use this:
Present your partner with this special treat after he/she has had a long day at work or, if stretched for time, on the weekend. Let your partner know you’re going to prepare them something special. Don’t ask them for their help or support. You have to go it alone. They may think you’re baking a cake! Surprise them with this amazing treat.
Why you need this:
Your other half will appreciate that you’ve noticed how much time they spend on their feet. Honour that. Respect that. Love that. They’ll love you right back.
3. Nude Photo Canvas
Arrange for a professional photographer to take a semi-nude photo of you in a sexy outfit, in a sexy pose or in a sexy location. I suppose, to keep costs down, you could ask a friend but that may a/feel like of weird, b/raise strange questions from your partner or c/ result in really bad photos making it a complete waste of time. Or you’ll have way too much fun together and it might end up looking like this (which I suppose is OK … ?)
Create a custom canvas print of your own special piece of photo art online. You may be sceptical about the quality of your own assets (aren’t we all?), but your partner will love it. You know they will. Perhaps you can try to aim for something more like this:
4. Lucky Daily Dip
While this is similar to Idea #1, it’s meant to be simpler and less time intensive, both in respect to the craft and the execution of the tasks.
Find an old jar. Make it sexy using paint, ribbons or glitter glue – or a combination of all three. Think red, black, gold, silver. Find some plain white or coloured paper and cut it into smaller sections.
Write little favours on each piece of paper, fold them up and place them in the jar. Invite your partner to, every morning over breakfast, draw out a daily lucky dip.
You can decide whether you want to offer 1 week’s worth, 10 day’s worth or 30 day’s worth of lucky dips. Be sure to make them as doable as possible. For example ‘Call me when you’re having a shower today and I will scrub your back’ or ‘Tonight, after work, I’ll give you a foot massage’.
5. Studded Bra
This one’s just for the women, I’m afraid. Boys, you don’t want to be accidentally wrecking her most expensive lingerie!
Find an old black bra you haven’t worn in a while. Buy some silver studs from the fabric and craft store along with a pair of needle nose pliers. You may also need a dart awl, but try doing it first without one to see if it works.
And voila! Lady Gaga eat your heart out.
Even if you manage just one of the above activities, your partner will struggle to keep their hands off you. That, my friends, is the power of craft.
